The most recent Human Rights Watch report confirmed that Colombia continues to be the most dangerous country in the world for exercising workers’ freedom of association. The report recommends not ratifying the Free Trade Agreement signed between the United States and Colombia, which has been in the US Congress since 2006. Jose Miguel Vivanco, director of this prestigious non-governmental organization, said “any agreement should be based on the respect of fundamental rights, especially those of the workers that make the products that will be traded. These conditions do not yet exist in Colombia.”
